Christos Dikeakos

Since the late ’60s to the mid ’70s, Christos Dikeakos’s photographic practice has played an important role in the development of conceptual photography in Vancouver. His ’80s and ’90s photographic series Sites and Place Names, shot in Vancouver, Saskatoon, Athens, and Berlin, engages with memories, histories, and urban typologies within contemporary urban habitations. More recently, Dikeakos produced a travelling exhibition for the McMaster Museum of Art, Hamilton, which combines drawing, collage, sculpture, and photography, unpacking a forty-year work and thoughts on French American artist Marcel Duchamp.

Christos Dikeakos was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, and currently lives and works in Vancouver.
