Hendrik Beune

Hendrik Beune moved to Vancouver from his home country of the Netherlands in 1970. His passion for wildlife, permaculture, and nature has kept him in British Columbia ever since. One of his life goals is to re-wild Vancouver, particularly the Downtown Eastside—and with all the community groups and organizations he’s part of, there’s a good chance it’ll become a reality. Beune first learned about Megaphone after getting involved with Pivot Legal Society when it was first starting up. “It’s income, but it’s also genuine interest in the community, and literacy, literacy for everybody—it makes a connection,” he says.
