Kiku Hawkes is a Vancouver-based artist, photographer, and instructor whose work is grounded in extensive studies in Nepal, India, and Japan. She regards photographic images as raw material for transformational processes that explore and express links between interior and exterior worlds. Hawkes has produced award-winning images in editorial and commercial photography.
In addition to exhibitions, publications, and public art installations, Hawkes has taught at a variety of venues, from elementary schools to prisons. She currently teaches Alternative Photographic Processes at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Vancouver.
