The Politics of Seeing

A roundtable discussion led by Rob Anderson, Vancouver Art Book Fair

Light comes in, photographs come out. Yet current photography trends prove that it is no longer as simple as putting Talbot’s “Pencil of Nature” to paper. Artists are exploring more than ever how photography’s limits can be expanded with interdisciplinary workings of lens-based mediums. From photography to video, collage to photorealistic painting, what types of artworks are considered to operate within a “lens-based” medium? Join us to share your thoughts and research or simply to listen and learn.

Rob Anderson is a Vancouver-based photographer who is currently studying at the New Centre for Research & Practice, Michigan, in Art and Curatorial Studies. His work and research addresses the effects of technological innovations on the trajectory of visual culture. He has been a member of the VABF Leadership Team since 2016.

Presented as part of the Vancouver Photo Book Fair.
Venue is not wheelchair accessible.
