About Capture Photography Festival

Capture Photography Festival, Western Canada’s largest lens-based art festival, is pleased to partner with Magenta Foundation, Canada's pioneering charitable arts-publishing house based in Toronto and the founder of the Flash Forward Incubator Program, to present the third edition of Incubator in British Columbia.

Designed for students within the high school setting, Incubator integrates interactive and instructional methods to provide youth with diverse opportunities to receive feedback on the evolution of their artistic concepts. It is offered free of charge outside of the regular school curriculum and is an opportunity for students to broaden the scope of their art. Incubator is developed in collaboration with industry professionals and educators, including teachers and artists, as well as Magenta’s and Capture’s education teams.

The Flash Forward Incubator Program is dedicated to fostering future practitioners in Canada coast to coast by giving youth from diverse backgrounds the mentorship they need to create their work and platforms to amplify their voices through exhibitions, publications, and an auction.

Capture Photography Festival is proud to be a part of the creativity, commitment, and talent expressed by the young artists who participated this year.

This year students are responding to the theme It’s a Plastic World. The works examine the impact of the thematic statement and consider how literal and conceptual interpretations of plastic may affect us personally including our behaviours, values, and sense of self in conjunction with the intellectual, moral, and cultural climate of our era.

The works for sale in this auction are unframed archival pigment prints on Epson Luster photo paper sized at 45.72 x 60.69 cm (18 x 24 in). 100% of the funds raised from the online auction will go to participating schools to support their art programs.
