Colin Smith has long been compelled by traces of human history, having worked as a documentary photographer for years before developing an interest in the beginnings of photographic technology. Saskatchewan-born and Alberta-based, Smith turns his eye on the wild and urban spaces of British Columbia in his latest series, Inside Out. Recently exhibited at the Art Gallery of Alberta, Edmonton, his work is represented in numerous private, corporate, and public collections, including the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. Smith has received awards from Outpost and Photo Life magazines and was recently named first place winner of the 2013 Cenovus Art Competition.
