Happy Hour Talk & Tour | Music in My Eyes and Paths

Join us for a Happy Hour artist talk with Silas Ng and curatorial tour of  Paths on Friday, March 22 at Art Gallery at Evergreen.

This event will be delivered in ASL. Ng will introduce his practice and new public art installation Music in My Eyes, (2020-) which is currently on view on the Evergreen Cultural Centre lobby windows. Next, tour the gallery exhibition  Paths  with assistant curator Anna Luth.  ASL interpretation will be available for the talk and tour.

Cash bar will be open, and the art gallery will be open until 6:30 p.m.  This event is wheelchair accessible.

Silas Ng is a multidisciplinary artist who explores identity, language and sound through images. His work involves photography and other mediums including drawing, painting and sculpture which he combines to capture his perspective of multiculturalism and communication as Deaf Chinese Canadian. He experiments with various mediums to recreate and reinterpret his life experiences and relationships with his many different cultures by transforming them into images and breaking the invisible boundary of language. Ng studied photography at Emily Carr University of Art and Design and is a recent MFA graduate from the School for the Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University.   @silas5.ng

Katherine Dennis is curator of the Art Gallery at Evergreen, where she has led the development of visual arts programming since 2017 with notable exhibitions such as Erika DeFreitas: close magic (2021), Jin-me Yoon: Long Time So Long (2023) and RISE: Sandeep Johal and Sara Khan (2023), among many others. As a curator and arts administrator specialising in public programming and audience engagement, she has been involved with projects across Canada. She holds a BFA from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver and an MFA in Criticism and Curatorial Practices from OCAD University, Toronto.   @artgalleryevergreen

Anna Luth (she/her) is an emerging curator, interdisciplinary artist and musician who holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts with a minor in Curatorial Practices from Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Vancouver. She is the assistant curator at Art Gallery at Evergreen where she supports numerous exhibitions featuring local and national artists such as RISE: Sandeep Johal and Sara Khan (2023), Inherit (2022), Krystle Silverfox: Hats’adän echo (Elder’s teachings) (2022) and co-facilitates the Emerging Creators Incubator. Luth gratefully lives on the unceded ancestral and traditional lands of the Qayqayt Nation and Coast Salish peoples, colonially known as New Westminster, BC. @artgalleryevergreen, @anna.luth
