Marian Penner Bancroft is a Vancouver artist working primarily with photography, text, video, sculpture, and sound. She studied at the University of British Columbia, the Vancouver School of Art (Emily Carr University) and Ryerson University in Toronto. She is the recipient of the 2012 Audain Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Visual Arts, the City of Vancouver’s Mayor’s Arts Award for Visual Art in 2009 and is a Professor Emeritus at Emily Carr University of Art+Design.
Bancroft’s work is represented in numerous collections, including The National Gallery of Canada, The Vancouver Art Gallery, The Belkin Gallery and Canada House, UK.
