Dr. Curtis Collins
Executive Director, Audain Art Museum
Dr. Curtis Collins is Executive Director of the Audain Art Museum in Whistler, BC. Collins received his PhD from the Department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill University. He has served as a director and curator for a variety of institutions across Canada including the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Art Gallery of Algoma, Dunlop Art Gallery and Art Gallery of the South Okanagan. Dr. Collins has also been active as an educator at McEwan University, the Yukon School of Visual Arts, First Nations University of Canada and Trent University.
His curatorial projects at the Audain Art Museum include: Reservoir by Rebecca Belmore, the national touring exhibition Wolves: The Art of Dempsey Bob, Karin Bubaš: Garden of Shadows, Edward Burtynsky: The Coast Mountains, and Curve! Women Carvers on the Northwest Coast that was also exhibited at the National Gallery of Canada. In 2025, Collins co-authored 7IDANsuu James Hart: A Monumental Practice published by Figure 1 Vancouver.
Michelle Sound
Artist
Michelle Sound is a Cree and Métis artist and mother. She is a member of Wapsewsipi Swan River First Nation in Treaty 8 Territory. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Simon Fraser University, School for the Contemporary Arts, and a Master of Applied Arts from Emily Carr University Art + Design. Public art pieces include a printed Transit mural (City of Edmonton) and a printed mural at the Canadian Embassy in Paris, France. Sound has exhibited nationally and internationally. Her work is held in the collections of the Indigenous Art Centre (CIRNAC), Forge Project NY, the McMichael Collection and the National Gallery of Canada. Sound has been longlisted for the Lind Photography Prize (2024) and the Sobey Art Award (2025).
Gaëtane Verna
Curator and Arts Administrator
Gaëtane Verna is a curator, writer, editor and arts administrator. She was the Executive Director of the Wexner Center for the Arts (2022-2025). She previously served as the Director and Artistic Director of The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto (2012-2022). Prior to this appointment, she was Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Musée d’art de Joliette,QC, (2006-2012) and served as Curator of the Foreman Art Gallery at Bishop’s University, Sherbrooke, QC (1998-2006). Verna has curated and organized many exhibitions by contemporary Canadian and international artists; she has published, edited, and contributed essays to numerous publications; and she has managed institutional collections spanning from medieval to modern and contemporary art. Verna currently serves on the board of directors of the Franz Erhard Walther Foundation, the Holt/Smithson Foundation, and the Sobey Art Foundation. In 2017, she was named Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters) by the French government. Verna was also the curator of the Canada Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024.
