(b.1991, Edmonton, AB, Canada; lives and works in Edmonton, AB, Canada) Alyson Davies holds an MFA from Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Vancouver (2021) and a BFA from the University of Alberta, Edmonton (2014). She was born to a rural family of talented trades- and craftspeople. In the studio, Davies studies moments of connection with nature intertwined with personal histories and autobiographic storytelling. Small experiences are memorialized into artworks that offer moments of contemplation and stillness. Bold colours, flattened spaces, patterning and exaggerated proportions create worlds just removed from reality. Her work has been exhibited across Canada, including exhibitions at Latitude 53 (Edmonton, 2021), Workman Arts (Toronto, 2017) and Stride Gallery (Calgary, 2016), and in the United States. Davies currently lives and works in Edmonton, AB (amiskwaciwâskahikan, Treaty 6 Territory).
