Carol Sawyer is an artist, performer, and singer working primarily with photography, installation, video, and improvised music. Since the early 1990s her work has been concerned with the connections between lens-based media and fiction, performance, memory, and history. Sawyer’s project The Natalie Brettschneider Archive was exhibited in 2016 at Carleton University Art Gallery in Ottawa and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. Sawyer holds a Diploma with Honours in Photography from Emily Carr College of Art and Design (now ECUAD) and an MFA from Simon Fraser University, both in Vancouver.
