Corwin Clairmont

An enrolled member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, Corwin Clairmont is a celebrated visual and conceptual artist whose decades of practice have included printmaking, mixed media, sculpture and installation. He received a BFA at Montana State University and an MFA at California State University. In 1984, he returned to Montana to work as an administrator at the Salish Kootenai College, where he was instrumental in creating the Fine Arts Department. His works challenge the cultural and ecological effects of European settlement upon the land previously inhabited by his indigenous ancestors for thousands of years.
