Gilbert holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography from Tisch School of the Arts, New York University (2004) and a Master of Fine Arts in visual art from the University of California Riverside (2011). He has had solo exhibitions of his work at Chris Sharp Gallery (Los Angeles), Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery (New York), Rebecca Camacho Presents (San Francisco), and 12.26 (Dallas). The first survey of his work, Flutter, opened at the North Carolina Museum of Art, Winston-Salem / SECCA in 2024. Gilbert’s work is in the collections of The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and The Marciano Foundation. An exhibition of new work will open at Chris Sharp Gallery, Los Angeles in Fall 2025.
