Katie Huisman is a photographer and visual artist based in Vancouver. Her work is informed by aestheticism as a way to explore individualistic ideology and non-categorical thinking. She is influenced by the late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century movements that defined photography as a universal language and uses this understanding to form narrative and response in her work. Although Huisman’s practice is steeped in the contemporary aesthetic, it illustrates her regard for photographic history. She is represented by Initial Gallery, Vancouver.
