Artist Statement
I am inspired most by faces and people. Through my lens, I enjoy capturing people in their raw and natural state. In my work, my model is trapped in a fake and artificial world where people are plastic. She is an elegant angel—a sign of perfection and strength in our society. The stereotypes that surround her allows the darkness to invade her perfection. She is trapped under a manufactured material; she feels that she is failing to live up to societal expectations. Once filled by her own light, the dark space is her hope, a force overshadowed with unreasonable expectations and self-doubt.
