Mike Bernard is a visual artist who works with motion and still images. He received his BAA in Photographic Studies from Ryerson in 1994 and has written and directed short films and documentaries that have played around the world. He currently resides in Vancouver, where he continues to work on film and photography projects.
Bernard’s photographs explore the relationship between humans and the natural world. His work for the last 30 years has considered nature in its most pristine state as well as the intersections where human involvement in the landscape becomes apparent. His most recent series, New Landscape, is an investigation into the mechanics of seeing and how we use our senses to orient ourselves in the world.
