Mike Grill works primarily with black and white photography, using both digital and traditional photographic processes and printing techniques in tandem to document scenes of the vernacular world, of the day to day, and of the people that inhabit it. Grill’s serendipitous imagery has a tendency to recall figurative works and techniques from the traditional cannon, while still remaining firmly embedded in the present day.

His exhibitions include: In Vitro: Photographs, CSA Space, 2013; Mike Grill: Photographs, CSA Space, 2010; Landscape Manual, Vancouver Art Gallery, 2010 (group); Parrot, Jeffery Boone Gallery, 2009; Moodyville, Presentation House Gallery, North Vancouver, 2008 (group); People. Places and Things, Jeffery Boone Gallery, 2008; Artist’s Choice: Roy Arden Selects From the Collection, Vancouver Art Gallery, 2007; Recent Photographs, CSA Space, 2007; New Photographs, CSA Space, 2005; and Aimlessness, Third Avenue Gallery, 2003.
