Rina Lyshaug is a Norwegian-Sámi intermedia artist who investigates paradigms in visual culture and attempts to disrupt principles of viewership by subverting expectations of image comprehensibility. She was born and raised in Balsfjord (Báhccavuotna), Norway, and now practices in unceded xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) territories also known as Vancouver, B.C. She holds a BFA with a major in Film, Video and Integrated Media from Emily Carr University of Art + Design and a fine arts diploma from Breivang Kunstskole in Tromsø, Norway. Her work has been exhibited in Platforms 2020: Public Works programmed by the City of Vancouver, The Lind Prize 2020 Exhibition at the Polygon Gallery, and The Reorganized Organ at Vivo Media Arts Centre (2017).
