Artist Statement
My photo plays with the idea that plastic is all around us but we just don’t notice it. For example, when you look at a photo of a building, it is common that you will not be able to see all of it. In my work, I chose to feature the Vancouver Art Gallery because of its complexity. However, it is easy to Photoshop due to the mirror effect, or symmetry, that the art gallery has. Photoshop was the only way to go to make this image. I am also thinking about how we often consider plastic to be hard material. Yet, plastic is more like a chameleon, as it can change its looks based on what it needs. Thus, plastic can come in any shape and size.
