Spike Peachy has been selling Megaphone’s Hope in Shadows calendar since the beginning, because it was an “economic need” for him. What’s kept him returning to sell the calendar year after year is the opportunity to interact with people, he says. “It keeps my people skills sharp because I’ve been off work for some time since I got crushed in an accident. But I’ve been recuperating, and I’m just re-entering the workforce now. This kept me doing something every year.” Peachy is also a gifted writer who has been published in Megaphone magazine many times, his poetry and prose often reflecting what he’s going through in life. Now he’s using his creative juices for a clothing line with local artist Smokey Bandit, called Spike and the Smokey Bandit.
