In the early 1980s, Victor John Penner worked as a graphic designer in Tokyo, Japan, where he created applied designs for fashion designer Kansai Yamamoto and portrait commissions for Christian Dior. While printmaking, filmmaking, and design are all part of Penner’s oeuvre, since 1992 he has concentrated almost exclusively on the photographic image. His works have been exhibited in public spaces and in galleries locally and internationally including in Not Safe to Occupy at the Gordon Smith Gallery of Canadian Art, North Vancouver, in 2014.
