Join artist Steven Dragonn and Jo-Anne Birnie-Danzker at Canton-sardine on April 25 for an intimate conversation regarding Dragonn’s inaugural solo exhibition. Part of the Capture Photography Festival, this event delves into the technical and philosophical frameworks of Dragonn’s new body of work. Birnie-Danzker joins the artist to unpack the themes of this debut, offering a rare look into the creative shifts of a key figure in the local art community.
Jo-Anne Birnie-Danzker is a curator, scholar, writer and former Director of Vancouver Art Gallery, Museum Villa Stuck Munich, Frye Art Museum Seattle. She served as exhibition director, curator and co-curator of numerous exhibitions at these institutions and at Gropius-Bau and Deutsche Guggenheim Berlin; MCA Chicago; International Center of Photography, MoMA- PS1 and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum New York; and Albertina Vienna. From 2017 to 2019, Birnie-Danzker served as Director and Chief Executive Officer of the 21st and 22nd Biennale of Sydney.
