In this workshop with Vancouver-based video and photo artist Annie Briard, participants will be encouraged to consider how, through the magic of stop-motion photography, they might explore the spaces between the real and the imagined, the physical and the virtual.

Two playful and exploratory creative group activities teach students the techniques of stop-motion photography, and together with Annie they will create invented moving image worlds, which will then be screened for family and friends. Participants will learn about the history of stop-motion, framing and composition, techniques of pixilation and cutout animation, basic video editing, and more.

For the final screening, the group will present the stop-motion films created during the workshop, providing participants the chance to complete a professional presentation of their work in a supportive environment. Parents and friends are invited, and popcorn and light refreshments will be served!

This workshop is generously supported by an ArtStarts Creative Spark Grant.

Please note the change of date of the workshop.
