Installation on view to April 1 – 30 at Scotiabank Dance Centre

Performances on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, 6 – 6:30 pm and 8 – 8:30 pm

This installation evolved from an innovative 2024 creation where two dancers simultaneously performed in Vancouver and New York City, using the liminal spaces of stairs to explore transition – the moment between rise and fall, descent and ascent. between the landings focuses on the thematics of how we land in different places, both physically and conceptually. This work lingers in the haze between the past, present and future, examining and using sound to access memory as a reconstruction process embracing the various elaborations, distortions, and omissions.

A looping video in the main lobby is paired with immersive sound and lighting in the stairwell, with live activation events taking place on April 29.

Presented as part of The Dance Centre’s International Dance Day celebrations. Created by Vanessa Goodman/Action at a Distance, made in collaboration with Justin Calvadores and Dorchel Haqq. Filmed and edited by: Vanessa Goodman. Technical Director: Jack Chipman.

Created with generous support from The Dance Centre, La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, John Robinson and Estrogenius Festival.
