Artist Torrie Groening, and husband/collecting partner Stephen Melvin will share a selection of their collection of photo-based works. As Groening’s own work in traditional printmaking transitioned with digital photography, the collection expanded as artists (and gallerists, museums) embraced new media. Artists in the collection include: Terry Allen, Doug Biden, Kitty Blandy, Sally Buck, Lincoln Clarkes, Karen Curry, Jessica Eaton, Tami Demaree, Michael Garlington, Angela Grossman, Fred Herzog, Deborah Koenker, David Moorish, James Nizam, Deborah Oropallo, David Ostrem, Francesca Pastine, Art Perry, Christopher Rauschenberg, Shawn Shepherd, Catherine Stewart, Otis Tamasauskas, William Wiley (+ Torrie’s collection of artist-at-work portraits and projects), Tammy Charles, Roman Franc, Torrie Groening, Wilson Herlong, and Rosamond Norbury.

Torrie Groening is a Vancouver based artist. She studied printmaking at Emily Carr College of Art + Design and is an alumna of The Banff Centre Visual Arts department. She is a photographer who works with drawing, painting and printmaking. Making use of new and traditional technologies Groening creates installations and photographs that reflect on a personal investment in the peripheral material of the artists studio. Culling from her own collections she constructs elaborate still life scenes representative of a multi-linear and often auto-fictive narrative. www.torriegroening.com @torriegroening
