The Canadian Photographic Portfolio Society publishes limited edition photographic portfolios of work by Canadian artists. Formed in 1986, the society’s aim is to support the development of Canadian photographic art and raise its international profile. CPPS is a non-profit society operated by a volunteer board of arts professionals. It commissions works from established artists who have already made an important contribution to contemporary art.
Each portfolio is conceived as a cohesive artwork. They are elegantly designed with a consideration for each artist’s particular sensibility. The prints are museum quality and are usually boxed in custom-made, archival storage cases. They are generally produced in an edition of fifteen or fewer and further printing of images in the same size is restricted. Portfolio prices reflect current market value and are set at approximately 60 percent of the cost of purchasing the individual prints.
Our portfolios have been acquired by numerous private, corporate and public collections both in Canada and abroad, including Le Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography, the National Gallery of Canada, and Le Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
