Capture is pleased to announce the appointment of Emmy Lee Wall as Executive Director of the Festival. We are excited to see the new and innovative directions that Emmy takes Capture in, for the 2020 Festival and beyond!
Wall has a long-standing engagement with Capture, having curated Ensuing Pictures for the Festival’s inaugural presentation in 2013 and serving on the Board of Directors from 2018 to 2019, helping to shape the Festival’s strategic plan. Prior to her role with Capture, she held the position of Assistant Curator in the Curatorial Department at the Vancouver Art Gallery, where she researched and coordinated the acquisition of more than 2,500 works of art to the gallery’s permanent collection and curated numerous exhibitions.
“We are thrilled to welcome Emmy as Executive Director of Capture. With her broad knowledge of both historical and contemporary art, extensive curatorial experience, and deep roots in the art community, Emmy will play a critical role in elevating the Festival’s impact locally and internationally.” —Kim Spencer-Nairn, Founder and Board Chair of Capture
“Photography is the medium of our time and Capture plays an important role in advancing lens-based art in this community and providing meaningful engagement with art to a wide audience. Vancouver is a city internationally renowned for its photographic artists, and I look forward to working with the staff, Board, and art community to celebrate this important legacy as well as exciting developments in lens-based art both locally and beyond.” —Emmy Lee Wall, Executive Director of Capture
