Alistair Henning’s photo-based work interrogates how societies express themselves through built environments, and how that expression, once manifested, persists and changes through time. An avid proponent of analogue-based image capture, Henning gives strong consideration to the relationship between intent, process, and visual outcomes in his practice.
Originally a professional musician, audio engineer, and recording artist, Henning’s visual art practice evolved from creating covers and promo photos for himself and other sound artists. He holds a BA in English from the University of Calgary, an MA in Media Production from the University of Westminster) and an LLB from the University of London. He resides in Vancouver’s East Village.
