Trudy Van Dop has worked and volunteered in the arts and cultural community of British Columbia for over twenty-five years. Her strong, personal passion for supporting local artists has led her to create one of the most unique art galleries in Western Canada.
Van Dop’s name has become synonymous in BC with raising the profile of the arts and cultural sector and promoting creative communities. Her passion for this local talent evolved into publishing BC’s Arts & Culture Guide: a 148-page, full-colour, year-round guide to the arts, culture, and heritage of British Columbia. In 2002, she developed and launched the annual BC Cultural Crawl, a celebration of the arts and cultural treasures throughout the province.
Van Dop’s gallery, in her home and garden, includes a number of artists installations and showcases over eighty artists from across Canada. She provides art consulting services for individual and corporate clients and is a recognized judge for many juried exhibitions.
Van Dop is has been President of the Crafts Association of BC, Cultural Program Director for the Canadian International Dragon Boat Festival, and a founding member of Design Vancouver, Design BC, and the Arts and Cultural Highway. She curated several inaugural exhibitions at the Canadian Craft Museum and established the CMM Museum Shop. She is past Director of the Vancouver Club, Vancouver Coast & Mountains Region and Tourism Vancouver, and Tourism New Westminster.
Currently Van Dop serves on the Selection Committee for Arts Umbrella‘s Splash and is a member of the New Westminster’s Arts Commission and Economic Development Commission, as well as founder and producer of the New Westminster Cultural Crawl.
