Tune in to Home Edition: Behind the Scenes, where artist Jeffery Chong will share how his personal family research and profession in archives have shaped his artistic practice. He will tell the story about discovering the historic news footage of his grandfather at the CBC Archives, and its inspiration for creating this large-scale photograph on The WALL, Home Edition. While this photograph’s focal point is the television, Jeffery will also describe how and why he staged the rest of the scene with family heirlooms and household objects. He will discuss his use of large format photography and its ability to capture his family history through these minute details. Jeffery continues to photograph his grandparents’ Mid-Century Builder home with the same approach, and will share some works in progress. He remains interested in activating the public space where this artwork is displayed, and will conclude this artist talk with some prospective ideas.
Details of how to join this event will be provided to registered participants. If you have not received the connection email two days before the event, please let us know at [email protected].
