Join TD Assistant Curator of Engagement, Sarah Wang, for two Friday Lunch Time tours of Here and Now, a Featured Exhibition for the 2023 Capture Photography Festival.

As Capture Photography Festival enters its tenth year, we welcome everyone to engage with lens-based works that illustrate, challenge, and commemorate place, belonging, and the ever-changing landscapes of community.

Curated by Executive Director, Emmy Lee Wall, and Assistant Curator, Chelsea Yuill, this exhibition features the works of emerging, mid-career, and senior artists – Jaiden George, Khim Hipol, Tom Hsu, Alexine McLeod, Isaac Thomas, Dana Qaddah, Ian Wallace, Gloria Wong, Jin-me Yoon, and Karen Zalamea – all of whom live and work in Vancouver, and whose works have shaped and continue to reflect Vancouver’s role in contemporary photographic practice. In these newly commissioned works, a variety of approaches to the medium underline the tangible and intangible elements of the city, its people, and our cultural inheritance.

Here and Now is organized by Capture Photography Festival, presented by the Audain Foundation and generously supported by the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association, Heffel Fine Art Auction House and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

If you would like to make a donation to support Capture Photography Festival, please donate via our registered charitable organization Vancouver Association for Photographic Arts here. Amounts over $20.00CAD receive a tax receipt.

Sarah Wang is the TD Assistant Curator of Engagement for Capture Photography Festival. Sarah studied art history and international relations before working in the arts and cultural sector here in Vancouver, with past and concurrent positions and projects at the Vancouver Art Gallery, Kickstart Disability Arts & Culture, the BC Museums Association, the Vancouver Writers Fest, VocalEye, and Cinevolution. Outside of work, she has exhibited at the Polygon Gallery and currently serves on the Board of C Magazine.
