Art Rental & Sales is a not-for-profit business operated by the Vancouver Art Gallery. Since 1952, it has promoted emerging and mid-career Canadian artists through the rental and sale of their original artwork.
Art Rental & Sales is a valuable resource for corporate and private art collectors, interior designers, and Vancouver’s film industry. Its Showroom, located on the main floor of the Vancouver Art Gallery, houses over eight hundred works of art by eighty local artists. The majority of fees collected are given to the artists themselves or to the commercial art galleries who consign artwork to the program. The remaining proceeds are donated to the Vancouver Art Gallery.
In addition to a retail gallery, the Art Rental & Sales Showroom also functions as an educational centre where featured artists hold public talks, share ideas, and engage with the public in an informal setting. Forefront in its operating principle is a commitment to British Columbia’s fine arts community.
