The Interurban has been serving the DTES community and surrounding neighbourhoods with outstanding visual art exhibitions, arts programming and classes, event space, community activities, new and multimedia exhibition, and, most importantly, an accessible friendly space for low-income artists and residents from the community to exhibit and develop their work.
Since its inception in 2003, the gallery’s mission has been to stimulate and sustain the vitality of the arts, enable cultural exchanges, and promote emerging artists in the DTES to foster a cultural collective. To fulfil this mission, the Interurban actively pursues arts mentorship within the community it serves, fostering a collective spirit among artists, teachers and students, community activism, and the general public.
